Native iOS app
- Puns and scores stay on device while you play. The current iOS build keeps round state locally and does not send your submitted puns, target phrase, score, or results to Punnacle's web server.
- Judging uses Apple Intelligence on supported devices. The native app uses Apple's Foundation Models / Apple Intelligence APIs to score puns on device when available. Punnacle does not send iOS puns to OpenAI.
- No Punnacle analytics or tracking in the native app. The current iOS build does not include Google Analytics, advertising SDKs, tracking, or a Punnacle account system.
- External links leave the app. If you tap a website link such as heresalexandria.com, that website and your browser may handle the visit under their own policies.
Web app
- The puns you typeand the target phrase are sent to Punnacle's judging endpoint so the server-side OpenAI judge can score them. We do not use those submissions for advertising.
- Local browser data- your daily result and (if you provide one) your own OpenAI API key are stored only in your browser's localStorage, never on our servers.
- Basic web analytics - the website may use anonymous Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage.
Discord Activity
- Discord identity- when you play the Discord Activity, we read your Discord user id and display name (via Discord's “identify” scope) so your score card can be attributed to you, and the channel id so we can post it there.
- Public score posting- when you finish a round in Discord, your score card is posted to the launch channel. The phrase/topic and your puns are included in the Discord score payload and can be revealed publicly in that channel's leaderboard.
- Use caution in Discord. Treat puns entered in the Discord Activity as potentially public to that Discord channel. Do not type private, personal, or sensitive information into Discord play.
How your data is used & shared
- iOS:used locally to run the game and score puns through Apple's on-device model APIs when available.
- Web and Discord: used to judge puns through OpenAI, run the game, and show your score. We do not send your Discord identity to OpenAI.
- Discord public posting: by playing the Discord Activity, you consent to score cards and related round details being posted in the Discord channel where the Activity was launched.
- We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.
Bring-your-own key for web play
If the web game asks for your own OpenAI API key, it is stored only in your browser and sent only to our judging endpoint to score your puns. It is never logged or persisted on our servers. You can remove it by clearing your browser's site data. The native iOS app does not ask for an OpenAI API key.
Retention & deletion
Native iOS round data is cleared by leaving the round, deleting the app, or clearing any device-level app data managed by iOS. Browser data is cleared by clearing your browser site data. Discord score messages live in the Discord channel they were posted to; to remove one, delete the Discord message or ask a channel moderator.
Third parties
The iOS app relies on Apple / Apple Intelligence platform APIs. The web and Discord surfaces may rely on OpenAI, Discord, Vercel hosting, and Google Analytics. Each third party operates under its own privacy policy and platform terms.
